Google’s Latest release of Android version 4.0 typically referred to as Ice Cream Sandwich has definitely changed the way in which people visualize smartphone. Essentially the most spectacular thing concerning the Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich is it provides almost as good consumer experience in smartphones as in tablets.
There are numerous smartphones manufacturer already on the verge of launching their latest version of smartphone with Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. For e.g. Samsung Galaxy s, Motorola Droid Bionic etc. It’s well known the constantly rising need for the first tablet to get shipped with Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich i.e. ASUS Transformer Prime. Till now Google installed different os’s for tablets and smartphones. To illustrate for smartphones Google used Android 2.3 or Gingerbread and for tablets it preferred to choose Android 3.0 or Honeycomb.
The initial smartphone to get Google’s Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich is Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus. This is the only smartphone out there yet using the latest Google’s Android 4.0.The main feature of Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) will be face-lock for both smartphones and tablets.
Everyone including the smartphones manufacturers is anxious about the latest version from the OS released by Google. The famous quotes that echoed the purpose of Android 4.0 were by Emily Price, a writer in USA today, “Ice Cream Sandwich is a massive deal, and it is different from every Android os before it. Ice Cream Sandwich blends parts of Gingerbread and parts of Honeycomb into a single version of Android which can be used on both tablets and smartphones”
Now let’s look at some of the brief features of Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
Print Screen: We named it the print screen name from the famous feature on common PCs for capturing the existing screenshots. This is the build in feature within this OS which eliminates the application of any 3rd party software in this feature and thus reduces the complexities of the system. This build in feature just needs a combined input of Volume Down+ Power Button to capture the screen. The image captured will possibly in .png format and will be stored in your default image gallery.
Face Recognition: The following feature we want to speak about is mostly a test version Siri, which can not give 100% satisfaction but a component you may like to get in the smartphone. Although there is funny way to look at this feature, people suggested that whenever you have the image of the admin then you certainly could be able to unlock the phone and they were nearly right. The face-unlocking takes advantage of the front facing camera to unlock
Another important aspect of the OS is that it is very useful for visually impaired people as well. Several new features greatly enhance the accessibility of Android 4.0 for blind or visually impaired users. Most important is a new explore-by-touch mode that lets users navigate without having to see the screen. Touching the screen once triggers audible feedback that identifies the UI component below; a second touch in the same component activates it with a full touch event. The new mode is especially important to support users on new devices that use virtual buttons in the System Bar, rather than dedicated hardware buttons or trackballs. It is going to help the users a lot.
Android Dreams : This is one the most simply thought features of Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) yet the most effective one. This allows accessing the apps in the device from the screen saver itself. The apps icons thereby are always active for clicks and will surpass the screen saver and run normally.
