Microsoft has announced that there will be a version of Firefox that will have as default search engine Bing, this agreement between Microsoft and the Mozilla Foudnation is born probablly to counter the rise of the Chrome browser (or Chromium) and raise some cash for the foundation in adifferent way.
In a blog post the Mozilla foundation announce this shocking (at least for me) news:
Mozilla and Bing are pleased to make available Firefox with Bing, a customized version of Firefox that sets Bing as the default search engine in the search box and AwesomeBar and makes Bing.com the default home page. (Existing Firefox users can also make these changes by installing the Bing Search for Firefox Add-on).
Offering Firefox with Bing extends the partnership Mozilla and Microsoft announced last year.
There are nearly 20 customized versions of Firefox distributed globally by partners including Bing, United Internet, Twitter, Yahoo! and Yandex.
The customised version of Firefox is available to download from the Firefox with Bingweb site. Existing Firefox users can visit the site to set their homepage and default search engine to Bing with a Firefox Add-on.
You can also read the equivalent post on the Bing site that repeat more or less the same information.
Apparently not available for Linux — at least http://www.firefoxwithbing.com/ asserts:
Firefox with Bing
Sorry, this download is not supported by your system.
Trust me — that’s GOOD news; no apology needed ;-P
